Announcing AVIxD Working Groups — proposals welcome

AVIxD is pleased to introduce “Working Groups”. Working groups are designed to allow AVIxD members to pursue and discuss topics of professional interest. For example, a working group might be focused on multi-lingual applications, multimodal voice interactions, or fostering collaboration between the research community and industry.

AVIxD Working Group are designed to be member-led initiatives. A new AVIxD Working Group can be proposed by any AVIxD member; if accepted, that member becomes the chair of the group. AVIxD will publicize new groups to our membership. People who aren’t AVIxD members can still participate in an AVIxD working group.

To find out more about proposing an AVIxD working group, see the working group procedures, outlined here.

Welcome New Board Member Jonathan Bloom

Recently, former Board Member Bill Byrne resigned from the AVIxD Board of Directors. We thank Bill for his service to AVIxD and our community.

According to our bylaws, the Board of Directors may appoint a new Board Member to fill a vacated spot. We chose to do so, and we’re pleased to announce that our colleague Jonathan Bloom accepted our invitation to join us on the Board. Jon brings a wealth of voice and design experience and we all look forward to working with him. Join us in welcoming Jon!
